More than a decade after it was first announced, Entertainment Weekly reports that the much-maligned Nia Simone biopic now has both a release date and poster.

“Nina,” which stars Zoe Saldana as the titular singer and activist, will be released in theaters and via video on demand services on April 22. First time director Cynthia Mort helmed the project, and David Oyelowo (“Selma”) plays Simone’s manager, Clifton Henderson.

From lack of support from Simone’s family to production battles to casting drama, the movie has been plagued by setbacks.
