Peek Inside The Smithsonian’s New Black America-Focused Museum

While we have to wait four more months until we can flock to Washington, D.C. for the grand opening of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC), we can now go inside the still-under-construction museum via new video and photos from The Washington Post

The Smithsonian Institution’s 19th museum, which opens in September of this year, occupies 400,000 square feet on the National Mall, near the Washington Monument. As the photos and the video above demonstrate, the building’s interior still needs a lot of work. Artifacts already planned for exhibition include slave cabins, an airplane used by the Tuskegee Airmen in World War II and the Parliament-Funkadelic Mothership (no, seriously).
