Michael Peña ("Ant-Man and the Wasp") joins fellow Mexican-American thespian Eva Longoria ("Dog Days") in the cast of the upcoming live-action adaptation of the popular Nickelodeon series, "Dora the Explorer."

Deadline reported yesterday (August 21) that Peña signed on to portray Dora’s (Isabela Moner, "100 Things to Do Before High School") father. Longoria will play the mother of Dora, who rose to fame as one of the only Latinx girls to lead an animated children’s television show.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Dora the Explorer" follows the perpetually inquisitive child as she exits her outdoor adventures and enters high school. Dora must balance her new life with saving her parents from a looming threat and uncovering the secrets of a bygone Inca civilization.

"Dora the Explorer" hits the big screen on August 2, 2019.
