Comedy Central’s The Daily Show announced last week comedian Jessica Williams will be joining the show’s cast of correspondents.

In an email to Colorlines.com, Comedy Central’s Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications Steve Albani confirmed Williams is indeed the" first African-American female regular correspondent."

The show has received criticism in the past for not having enough women as part of their regular correspondents and writing team.
