Comedian, rapper, actor and writer Donald Glover mentioned another (in)famous Donald when describing his upcoming FX show, "Atlanta," earlier this year: "I feel like the absurdity of the world—the actual real life world, I mean—is more interesting," said Glover during the FX portion of the Television Critics Association tour in January. "I mean, like, Donald Trump is running for president right now. When I was eight, I saw him in a Pizza Hut commercial. Like, that’s fucking weird."

Glover elaborated on the show’s possible absurdist and surreal bent, saying, "I just wanted to make ‘Twin Peaks’ with rappers."

FX’s new promo for "Atlanta" seems to embrace that directive. Glover walks down the street to Tame Impala’s "New Person, Same Old Mistakes," wordlessly passing out flyers while people and vehicles around him appear to move backwards.

"Atlanta" focuses on the relationship between two cousins making their way in Atlanta’s rap scene. Glover plays "Ernest ‘Earn’ Marks," who sees an opportunity to manage his cousin "Alfred’s" (Brian Tyree Henry) burgeoining hip-hop career. According to Shadow and Act, the duo’s "opposing views on art versus commerce, success and race, will make their quest anything but easy." If "Atlanta" is anything like Glover’s other projects, then we should expect realness and wierdness in equal measure.
