More than a year after she announced the project, director Ava DuVernay today (March 1) shared a teaser trailer for her Netflix limited series about the Central Park Five, now called “When They See Us.” Per the project’s YouTube description, it will follow the five Black and Latinx boys who were wrongfully convicted of rape, starting with police interviews in 1989, their incarceration and subsequent exoneration in 2002 and their settlement with New York City 12 years later.
