WATCH: House of Representatives Votes on Impeachment

By N. Jamiyla Chisholm Dec 18, 2019

History is being made Wednesday (December 18) as the House of Representatives takes up two articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump. The expectation is that the majority-Democrat House will vote in favor of impeachment, which would make Trump the third president to be impeached since the country’s founding. Presidents Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton were both impeached, but not removed. Richard Nixon resigned before the hammer could fall.

The articles being debated are abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, as the House has charged Trump with using his office for personal gain after it became known that he asked Ukraine’s president to investigate 2020 presidential candidate and former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.

Watch the live proceedings above. The final vote is reportedly on track to happen as early as 6:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
