In a 3-2 vote along party lines, Republicans in the FCC have successfully repealed net neutrality rules that kept internet providers from blocking websites or charging for better service or certain content. The federal government will also no longer regulate high-speed internet delivery like a utility.

Today (December 14), the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will vote on the future of the internet. The biggest issue at stake is net neutrality, which allows for an open and free internet access unhampered by the financial interests of service providers. The hearing starts at 10:30 a.m., even as third parties have identified falsified comments on the agency’s website about the measure. Watch the hearing live here.
