Netflix Announces Premiere Dates For ‘The Get Down,’ ‘Orange is the New Black’ and More

Netflix announced premiere dates for more than a dozen new and returning series this week, including two programs that prominently feature people color. 

Prison-set trailblazer "Orange is the New Black" returns for its fourth season on June 17. Check out the trailer for the upcoming season below: 

The series premiere for Colorlines-show-to-watch "The Get Down" happens a little later on August 12. The Baz Luhrmann-created dramatization of hip-hop’s origins in late-’70s South Bronx features Jaden Smith and "Dope" star Shameik Moore. Peep the trailer below:

Although that’s it for major shows with main characters of color (Marvel’s "Jessica Jones" is coming back, but with no premiere date announced), comedian Hannibal Buress’ new special will stream on February 5:
