Lupita Nyong’o on #OscarsSoWhite: ‘It’s a Symptom of Something Else’

Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o offered more perspective on the #OscarsSoWhite controversy, affirming that Hollywood needs to include people of color in the stories brought to film. 

"I think it’s good for all of us when we hear a diverse number of stories and are able to experience more diversity," she said during in yesterday’s (February 3) interview with Savannah Guthrie on NBC’s "Today." The Mexican-born Kenyan actress, who won an Oscar in the "Actress in a Supporting Role" category for her performance in 2013’s "12 Years A Slave," appeared on the show to promote her Broadway debut in "Eclipsed."

"What we are asking for is really for more stories to be told—for inclusion in the stories that are told," she said.
