At least one of the year’s critically acclaimed new TV series from a creator of color will be coming back for a second season.

Issa Rae’s fan-favorite comedy “Insecure” is one of three new HBO series, alongside “Divorce” and “Westworld,” to receive second-season renewals. The New York Times cited Nielsen reports yesterday (November 14), saying that the series’ most recent episode was watched by 500,000 viewers within three days of broadcast—a small number compared to “Westworld’s” 11.7 million viewers, but one that still indicates a dedicated following.

The series, which explores many themes central to Rae’s web series “The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl,” stars Rae as “Issa” and Yvonne Orji (“Love That Girl!”) as “Molly,” two millenial Black women surviving workplace microaggressions and relationship inertia together. It airs Sunday nights on HBO.
