Do you suffer from Islamophobia? Well, Islamophobin might be the cure.
Just kidding. It’s not a real cure. The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) released an ad for the satirical chewing gum yesterday (May 26) as part of a social media campaign against rising Islamophobia in the media and American communities. The campaign advertises Islamophobin (a real sugar-free gum you can actually order) through a deceptively realistic website and humorous video ad, which you can see above.
“We hope humor will help create public awareness about the harm Islamophobia does not only to ordinary American Muslims, but also to the values of equality and religious freedom upon which our nation was founded,” CAIR’s National Executive Director Nihad Awad in a statement emailed to Colorlines.
