Bobby Jindal Calls Donald Trump ‘A Wake-Up Call’ for Republican Party

Count former presidential candidate, ex-Louisiana governor and hashtag punchline Bobby Jindal as the latest Republican figurehead to call current nomination frontrunner Donald Trump‘s ascendance a disruption to the party.

"The GOP establishment is done for," Jindal said Wednesday (March 16) on "Meet the Press." He went on to explain the disruption Trump’s campaign has caused within the party: "Voters are angry and frustrated and, in some part, the Republican Party deserves some of that frustration. Donald Trump should serve as a wake-up call."

Jindal said that he felt a convention action to bar Trump from the candidacy would only further alienate the party’s base, saying, "When huge chunks of your base are telling you something, you have to listen to them." He added that despite his lack of enthusiasm, he’d support Trump in a general election race against Hillary Clinton
