Author Nicola Yoon‘s vision of a teenage meet-cute threatened by xenophobic immigration policies comes to the big screen in “The Sun is Also a Star," whose trailer debuted Wednesday (February 6). The film adaptation of her bestselling novel stars Yara Shahidi ("Grown-ish") as Natasha, a New York City teenager who struggles to stop her family’s deportation to their native Jamaica. She falls for Daniel (Charles Melton, "Riverdale"), the son of Korean immigrants who saves her from being hit by a car. "The Sun is Also a Star" hits theaters on May 17; watch the trailer above.
