With the five-year anniversary of Katrina behind us, and the BP oil spill having been declared resolved, the national spotlight once again turns away from the Gulf. But the two manmade disasters have left the region gutted of tens of thousands of jobs. Politicians and large, white-owned businesses have urged struggling workers to point their fingers at one another, rather than the system that leaves them out of work. Through it all, the  decades-old community of African American fishers in Point a la Hache, Louisiana, continue trying to make a day’s work add up to a living wage.
