WATCH The Stunning New Trailer for Don Cheadle’s ‘Miles Ahead’

By Sameer Rao Feb 03, 2016

For those eagerly awaiting April 1—when Don Cheadle’s "Miles Ahead" hits theaters—prepare yourself by watching the film’s first official trailer.

Cheadle’s biopic on the influential trumpeter and composer has already received praise on the festival circuit, causing some to deem the film Oscar-worthy at a time when Hollywood is under fire for its exclusion of Black performers. Cheadle directed, co-wrote and stars in the film as its titular character, portraying him in the 1970s as he battled both a cocaine addiction and his record label. The action-packed trailer features Cheadle as Davis in multiple eras, showing him confronting record execs with guns, fleeing police with journalist Dave Brill (Ewan McGregor) and fighting violently with his first wife Frances Taylor (Emayatzy Corinealdi).

The trailer premiered yesterday (February 2), exclusively through Entertainment Weekly, but you can check out a lower-resolution version above.
