By Sameer Rao Oct 18, 2018

If you don’t know Noname from her Tiny Desk set or collaborations with fellow Chicago native Chance the Rapper, prepare to pay attention. The MC and poet showed off her fast-paced and poignant bars during her first television performance as a solo artist on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" last night (October 17).

rntWatch Noname ride the tempo changes of the three songs—"Blaxploitation," "Prayer Song" and "Don’t Forget About Me”—with live instrumentation. They are featured on her first solo album, "Room 25," and reflect the album’s mix of social critique and introspection. The album, which debuted on September 14, reentered the news this week when Noname pledged to change the cover art after the artist was arrested on domestic abuse charges.
