Sean “Diddy” Combs takes audiences on a tour of his hip-hop label’s tumultuous history and present in “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop: A Bad Boy Story,” which airs via Apple Music on June 25.
Rolling Stone reports that Diddy revealed the documentary’s trailer at last night’s (May 21) Billboard Music Awards. The trailer premiered on what would have been Bad Boy Records torchbearer Christopher “The Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace’s 45th birthday, had he not died in a still-unsolved drive-by shooting. C.J. Wallace, Biggie’s son with singer Faith Evans, joined Diddy on stage for the announcement.
“Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop” premiered at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival and takes its name from a refrain Diddy frequently added to Bad Boy artists’ songs. Directed by first-time feature documentarian Daniel Kaufman with Live Nation Productions, the film chronicles the label’s development and 1990s peak via the confessionals of its artists and affiliates including Evans, Lil’ Kim, Lil’ Cease and Clive Davis. As shown in the trailer, the film intercuts these clips with footage of Bad Boy artists on last year’s reunion tour. Diddy also discusses Biggie’s 1997 death: “As soon as those shots went off, everything came crashing down—you know, I died that night in that car.”
