VIDEO: School Resource Officer Slams 84-Pound Teen, Charged With Felony Child Abuse

In May, a Florida school resource officer Mario Badia assaulted a 13-year-old black student at Kissimmee Middle School. After an administrator called him to address an argument between the boy and his mother, he escalated the situation, pushed the boy, then slammed him to the floor. This week, video of the incident has surfaced.

Local station WFTV discovered the video, which shows Badia throwing the 84-pound boy to the floor and twisting his wrist. That wrist, and his ankle, were sprained in the altercation. “He came in with such a hostile manner, like he was ready for war,” the boy’s mother, Alexis Richmond, told WFTV. “Justice should be served. He should get time for what he did to my son.” She is reportedly considering a civil suit.

Badia was charged with battery and felony child abuse. He pled not guilty at his arraignment last month and will stand trial in December. He is currently on paid administrative leave. Watch the full video here.
