Taraji P. Henson to Host SNL

Taraji P. Henson is flying high off the success of "Empire." She is set to host "Saturday Night Live" on April 11 according to a tweet the show posted yesterday. Henson will join a very small group of black women to do so. 

SNL debuted in 1974. Cicely Tyson became the first black woman host in 1979. She was followed by Oprah Winfrey in 1986. In the 2000s, Queen Latifah, Halle Berry, Janet Jackson, Gabourey Sidibe, Maya Rudolph and Kerry Washington have hosted. According to Fusion, there were no black women hosts in the ’90s.
