Iraqi Immigrants Struggle Despite Status in US Although the US has made it easier for Iraqi refugees to enter the country, many have not been able to find jobs and continue to struggle financially. According to federal officials, since 2003, more than 30,000 Iraqis have been resettled in the US as refugees, and at least 1,500 were granted asylum. California Prisons Remain Segregated Despite intentions throughout California to integrate inmates in prisons throughout the state by the end of the year, the process is behind schedule. In 2005, the U.S. Supreme Court finding that segregation of prison inmates is discriminatory. Indian Population Rapidly Increasing According to the American Community Survey of the US Census Bureau and the Department of Homeland Security, Indians are the fastest growing Asian community and fastest growing group of undocumented immigrants in the country. Increasing Number of Asian Men seek Cosmetic Surgery Asian American men are seeking plastic surgery in greater numbers, as Asian Americans are the fastest growing segment to undergo cosmetic alterations. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, there was a 290 percent increase in procedures among Asian Americans in 2008.
