An African-American natural hair group in Ohio is giving away 40 barbies this Christmas to girls living in the Booker T. Washington public housing complex in Columbus.

But there a twist. The group found an online tutorial that uses pipe cleaners and boiling water to give Barbie natural-looking curls.

So the Barbies will come with a new makeover!

"We wanted to show the girls that basically, it’s okay the way God made you," Jennifer Henderson, a member of the group told a local newspaper in Columbus.
