LISTEN: Trump Administration Makes Case to SCOTUS in Defense of ‘Muslim Ban’

By Kenrya Rankin Apr 25, 2018

More than a year after President Donald Trump introduced the first iteration of his “Muslim ban,” which seeks to prevent people from several majority Muslim countries from entering the United States, the Supreme Court heard arguments today on the legality of the policy.

The latest version of the ban targets people with citizenship in Chad, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Syria, Venezuela and Yemen; six of the eight counties feature populations that are predominantly Muslim. Today’s challenge—Trump v. Hawaii—was to determine if the policy is illegal, if it’s overbroad and if it’s outside the president’s rights.

Listen to the arguments that were presented this morning here. The justices are expected to issue a decision in late June.
