LISTEN: Justin Simien Chats With Lena Waithe, Misha Green on New Podcast

By Sameer Rao Jun 26, 2018

"Dear White People" creator Justin Simien promises that "Don’t @ Me," his new podcast with Santa Monica-based KCRW, will go deep into the identity, discrimination and digital culture issues that permeate his work.

"’Don’t @ Me’ is an attitude," he writes in the show description. “It’s when you want to say something on your Twitter or Instagram without getting hit by immediate ‘well, actually’s’ or think pieces without thought. This is a safe space for trendsetters and troublemakers to get together without filter or interruption. If you’ve seen my show and film, ‘Dear White People,’ you know we’re going to get into how race, gender and sexuality impacts our lives and shapes our work. So gather around, sip your tea and let’s dig into this thing we call ‘culture.’"

He launches the podcast with a bang today (June 26) via a conversation with two fellow Black show creators, Lena Waithe ("The Chi") and Misha Green ("Underground," "Lovecraft Country"), about changing expectations for Black female and LGBTQ artists in Hollywood. Listen below:
