Who says Lifetime is only good for shows about dance schools and murderous boyfriends? The network confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday (April 12) that it will tackle one of the biggest headlines of the day: The Flint water crisis.

“Flint” will tell the story of the thousands of—predominantly Black—residents of Flint, Michigan, who were exposed to elevated lead levels in their water when state officials choose money over residents’ well being.

The movie has been fast-tracked, and will draw from Time magazine’s February 1 cover story, “The Toxic Tap.” It will be executive produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, who created NBC’s “The Wiz Live!” and the 2012 “Steel Magnolias” remake.
