Kumail Nanjiani ("The Big Sick") and Alan Yang ("Master of None") both found screen success by drawing on their own narratives as first- and second-generation immigrants. Now, they are joining forces for "Little America," a new series that centers immigration stories.

Deadline reported yesterday (February 8) that Apple put "Little America" into development as part of its plan to develop original scripted content. The half-hour anthology series draws from an essay collection of the same name that ran in Epic Magazine. "The TV series will go beyond the headlines to look at the funny, romantic, heartfelt, inspiring and unexpected lives of immigrants in America, at a time when their stories are more relevant than ever," per Deadline.

Nanjiani will co-write the series with his wife and writing partner, Emily V. Gordon, with whom he scripted the autobiographical screenplay for "The Big Sick." They will collaborate on the scripts with Lee Eisenberg ("SMILF"), who also serves as showrunner. The trio will executive produce alongside Yang. Apple is developing "Little America" through Uni TV, a production studio where Yang has an overall deal.
