Kendrick Lamar Sued Over Uncredited Photo Use

By Sameer Rao Jul 14, 2015

Although Kendrick Lamar has never been one to shy from controversy, he’s back at the center of it for very different reasons than you might expect.

Lamar, along with his label, Interscope Records, and Aftermath Entertainment, are being sued by a photographer for allegedly ripping off his art. Giordano Cipriani, an Italian photographer based in New York, says in his lawsuit that Lamar and the other defendants stole his photo for promo of Lamar’s controversial and searing "The Blacker the Berry" single. The photo of a black woman breastfeeding two infants is the subject of a copyright infringement claim by Cipriani.

Neither Lamar nor anybody at Interscope or Aftermath have commented on the situation at press time.
