The National Football League (NFL) announced via Twitter on Thursday (September 26) that the Super Bowl LIV Halftime Show will star Jennifer Lopez and Shakira.

Shakira followed with a tweet of her own, saying “it doesn't get any bigger than this.” She may be right, considering that the February 20 performance will not only feature two of the world’s biggest Latinx performers, but it will also take place in Miami, which was not lost on Lopez.

“I love that it’s in Miami; it’s a very Latino town and that they picked the two of us,” Lopez said in the promotional video, tweeted by Fox Sports. “I love that the Super Bowl has two women performing this year. That they have two Latinas performing this year. It’s their 100th anniversary, but also the marker of a new time. Not just for the NFL but for this country. It sends an important message.”

The Colombian singer agreed, saying, “I feel incredibly honored and humbled to be in a way next to J.Lo and representing the Latino community, which is such an important force in the United States.”

Fans may tune in to watch this historical moment, but the #BoycottNFL protest is still going strong, with many people saying they will continue to boycott the league until Colin Kaepernick is signed to a team.
