Issa Rae offered those hurting in the aftermath of Alton Sterling‘s killing a small way to help: a new scholarship fund for Sterling’s five children.

The creator and star of comedy series "The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl" and "Insecure" started the GoFundMe campaign yesterday (July 6). All proceeds will go to college funds for the five children who lost their father to a Baton Rouge police officer’s bullets on Tuesday (July 5). One of Sterling’s children, 15-year-old Cameron, visibly wept during a press conference held by Sterling’s family and local civic and community leaders.

According to the GoFundMe page, the campaign raised $100,000 in the first six hours and more than $300,000 at press time.
