ICYMI: Raven-Symoné Does Not Want Harriet Tubman On The $20 Bill

Raven-Symoné, guest co-host of “The View,” has once again talked herself into being the focus of a collective side-eye. The actress known for her younger role as Olivia on “The Cosby Show” recently stirred controversy by defending Rodner Figueroa’s comment about the FLOTUS resembling an ape. Her skewed take on geography also received a lot of attention. Symoné is back in the hot seat after opining about the possibility of freedom fighter Harriet Tubman appearing on the $20 bill.

The discussion was sparked by a campaign lead by Women On 20s, a non-profit organization petitioning to get a woman’s face on U.S. currency. Harriet Tubman was recently announced as their winner, chosen from 15 inspiring American women via online voting.

Symoné stated that she “would have chosen someone that is closer to the progression that we’re doing now.”

Let me just preface that I understand the history, I get it, trust me, I was taught, I was in that culture. … I would’ve chosen Rosa Parks. I would have chosen someone that is closer to the progression that we’re doing now. I know you have to understand history so you don’t repeat it, but that doesn’t happen in our world, because we still repeat history of hating other cultures over and over again. I would choose a different woman, no offense.
