Favianna Rodriguez Talks Art and Activism on Pharrell’s YouTube Channel

Immigrant rights activist Favianna Rodriguez talks social change through art.

Voice of Art, a new documentary series on Pharrell Williams’ i am Other YouTube Channel, is releasing a three part documentary featuring artist Favianna Rodriguez, actress Rosario Dawson and Pulitzer Prize winning author Jose Antonio Vargas. The series explores how artists are using art to change immigration policy and perceptions of immigrants.

The first episode features the work of Favianna Rodriguez–a leading voice in the movement of artists raising awareness about U.S. immigration issues. Rodriguez is a co-founder of both Presente.org and Culture Strike, two groups pushing back against the wave of anti-immigrant rhetoric and legislation that has recently swept the nation. 

Rodriguez narrates the three-part documentary that looks at how art can be used for social change.

Other notables in the series include UndocuQueer artivist, Julio Salgado; Tucson Attorney and Human Rights Activist, Isabel Garcia; Writer and Presente.org co-founder, Roberto Lovato, and Emcee Jasiri X.
