Erykah Badu Accuses Black Eyed Peas of Copping Her Video Concept

By Sameer Rao Jul 20, 2015

Erykah Badu might be the most entertaining when she’s going after other artists on social media (especially, like Azealia Banks, those who come at her), and she was in true irreverent form this weekend. After the Black Eyed Peas dropped the unexpected "comeback" video for new single "Yesterday," Ms. Badu took note of how the Fergie-less Peas’ cool concept (which showed them digging through records and being inserted into classic album art for historic artists that they name check) was a little too similar to the concept for her 2007 single "Honey."

We’re inclined to agree – this is a little too similar to look like anything other than a ripoff. At best, it’s ignorant; at worst, it’s a clear concept steal.

Take a look at the videos (links in the Twitter post). Do you think they ripped Mama Erykah off? Sound off in the comments!
