Despite being pushed out of the National Football League, Colin Kaepernick is still for social justice for all. His latest work involves guest editing the new issue of Paper magazine, which is themed “Know Your Rights.” Kaepernick announced the partnership via Twitter on Tuesday (August 20).

It’s a collaboration with Kaepernick’s organization Know Your Rights Camp (KYRC), whose mission is “to advance the liberation and well being of Black and Brown communities through education, self empowerment, mass mobilization and the creation of new systems that elevate the next generation of change leaders,” according to its website.

The cover story, “Colin Kaepernick Wants You To Know Your Rights,” traces the foundation of Kaepernick’s activism back to the birth of the Black Panther Party and its Ten-Point Program, which included the need to end police brutality.

“That was over 50 years ago. And what has changed?” Kaepernick asked in article. “Oscar Grant, Rekia Boyd, Michael Brown, Tamir Rice. What has changed? Laquan McDonald, Sandra Bland, Freddie Gray. The Panthers’ demands are still alive today because the police are still killing us today.”

The issue also breaks down KYRC’s “Know Your Rights 10 Points,” which begins with the right to be free and concludes with the right to know your rights.

It goes on to feature interviews with several social justice activists, including Tarana Burke, Angela Davis, Nessa Diab, Ava Duvernay, the Exonerated Five, Taraji P. Henson, Indya Moore, Eric Reid, Yara Shahidi and  Bryan Stevenson.
