Cabbie Threatens to Remove Somali-American Congress Member’s Hijab

On November 8, Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) became the first Somali-American to be elected to Minnesota’s state congress. Tuesday (December 6), following a meeting at the White House, a cab driver called Omar “ISIS” and threatened to pull off her hijab.

The Muslim mother of three wrote about the incident in a Facebook post yesterday (December 7), where she said that she was “subjected to the most hateful, derogatory, Islamophobic, sexist taunts and threats” she had ever experienced:
