"Stranger Fruit," a documentary exploring the 2014 killing of Michael Brown, landed with a boom when it premiered at South by Southwest in 2017. The movie captured headlines for its inclusion of then-unreleased footage featuring Brown conducting a seemingly normal transaction at the convenience store he allegedly robbed. The exchange was happened just hours before former Ferguson, Missouri, police officer Darren Wilson fatally shot the unarmed Black teenager.

The footage inspired renewed protests and calls for a state investigation into the killing. It also prompted backlash from St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCulloch and Fox News talking heads and others who doubted the legitimacy of the video.

Director Jason Pollock ("The Youngest Candidate") re-edited his film to capture this pushback, as demonstrated in the above trailer, which debuted online yesterday (March 27). According to Deadline, the film will arrive in theaters on April 3 and air on Starz in June.
