The art of voguing was on full display last night (June 11) at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Battle of the Legends: Vogueing at The Met featured six fierce competitors who were chosen to perform by the ballroom co-founder of House of Mizrahi, Jack Mizrahi.
Voguers—Asia Balenciaga, Bootz Prodigy, Dashaun Lanvin, Omari Mizrahi, Tamiyah Mugler and Ty Ebony—battled in front of a huge audience and a panel of judges that consisted of the father of the House of Xtravaganza, Jose Xtravaganza; Twiggy Garçon, executive producer of the documentary “Kiki”; Anna Wintour, editor in chief of Vogue and artistic director of Condé Nast; and Jordan Roth, president of Jujamcyn Theaters.
The event was in honor of Stonewall’s 50th anniversary and Pride Month, and in celebration of The Costume Institute’s exhibition, Camp: Notes on Fashion. Asia Balenciaga, Bootz Prodigy and Omari Mizrahi each won trophies for being the judge and crowd favorites.
