VIDEO: Wyatt Cenac And Jon Stewart Seemingly Bury Conflict During ‘Daily Show’ Finale

By Sameer Rao Aug 07, 2015

Last night’s "Daily Show" was all love—old correspondents, former hosts, political targets, and others appeared to send Jon Stewart off after 16 years of influential media discourse and transformation. It largely confirmed the praise-heavy narrative that surrounds Stewart’s contributions to comedy and news media.

But allegations from former "Daily Show" correspondent and writer Wyatt Cenac, who described a writers room meeting in which Stewart cursed Cenac out for criticizing a bit as racist when he appeared on WTF with Marc Maron, threatened to tarnish Stewart’s legacy.

Call it overcoming the past or a calculated positive publicity move, but the two appeared to bury the hatchet during Stewart’s final episode. In a bit where many old correspondents appeared, one after another, Cenac stood in front of a greenscreen rendered to look like he was down the street from the studio. They then said confirmed that they were "good" before Cenac joked that his social media pages were "blowing up" (as they certainly were).

Check out a video of the bit above.
