By reaching out to the community through workshops and after school programs, BlackGirlsCode introduces computer coding lessons to young girls from underrepresented communities in programming languages such as Scratch or Ruby on Rails. The San Francisco based group has less than two days to raise $7,000 and reach their fundraising goal that will allow them to teach computer programming to more than 300 boys and girls from underrepresented communities in at least seven cities across the United States. If BlackGirlsCode reach their fundraising goal they plan to visit Chicago, Atlanta, St. Louis, Detroit, Los Angeles, Oakland and San Francisco in the next 90 days.
