Hollywood stars and projects headlined by people of color—especially Black ones—dominated last night’s (May 7) MTV Movie & TV Awards. The show is the network’s first awards ceremony designed to eliminate gender and genre boundaries.

- "Hidden Figures" for "Best Fight Against the System," presented to lead actress Taraji P. Henson by Tracee Ellis Ross and U.S. Representative Maxine Waters
- Lonnie Chavis with "This is Us" co-star Milo Ventimiglia for best "Tearjerker"
- "The Daily Show with Trevor Noah’s" namesake host for "Best Host"
- "RuPaul’s Drag Race" for "Best Reality Competition"
- "Hidden Figures’" Taraji P. Henson for "Best Hero"
- Ava DuVernay‘s "13th" for "Best Documentary"
- "Black-ish" for "Best American Story"
