In the wake of the Paris attacks and last week’s mass shooting in San Bernardino, California, anti-Muslim sentiment is surging around the world. Need proof? These two videos make it quite clear.

In the first, Holland-based filmmakers Alexandar Spoor and Sacha Harland placed a Quran cover on a Bible, hit the streets and asked passerby what they though of highlighted passages. Hearing things like “If two men sleep with each other they will both have to be killed” (a paraphrase of Leviticus 20:13) prompted responses like:

“If you’ve been raised with this book and these kind of thoughts it’s going to influence the way you think.” 

And “To me, this sounds like they want to oppress you and force you to believe what they believe.” 

And “The Bible is a lot less harsh and a bit more peaceful.”

In the second video, Liberty University president Jerry Falwell Jr. speaks to its student body after the San Bernardino attack, which was allegedly carried out by a Muslim husband and wife duo. Falwell’s message encouraged wider access to guns for "good" people.

 “I’ve always thought that if more good people had concealed-carry permits, then we could end those Muslims before they walked in and killed them,” he said. When pressed by the Washington Post about his remarks, he said that when he said “those Muslims,” he meant to say “Islamic terrorists.” 

“That’s the only thing I would clarify,” he said in the interview. “If I had to say what I said again, I’d say exactly the same thing.”
