Because behind every horrible dictator is an enabling superpower.

Saturday Night Live’s Fred Armisen has impersonated President Obama and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Now he can add former Egyptian President Hosni Murabak to that list of credits.

This time Armisen made an appearance on SNL’s Weekend Update as Murabak, offering some pretty poignant commentary. But the real analysis came from another real fact. In Armisen’s words:

America, thank you. You propped up my regime for over 30 years. I could never have done it without all of your money and support and tear gas. You know what they say, Seth, behind every horrible dictator is an enabling super power. America, you are the wind beneath my wings.
