Renowned metal singer Phil Anselmo reminded the world this week that he’s too metal to care about racism (which, metal fans be known, isn’t actually metal).  

Video emerged on Wednesday (January 27) that showed the Pantera and Down frontman at last week’s Dimebash, an annual benefit concert in Hollywood dedicated to his slain ex-bandmate Dimebag Darrell, doing a Nazi salute and shouting "White power" during a performance. Anselmo actually responded in the video’s comments section, through the account of his Housecore Records label, with the following (formatting changed from YouTube): 

Ok folks, I’ll own this one, but dammit, I was joking, and the "inside joke of the night" was because we were drinking fucking white wine, hahaha… Of all fucking things. Some of y’all need to thicken up your skin. There’s plenty of fuckers to pick on with a more realistic agenda. I fucking love everyone, I fucking loathe everyone, and that’s that. Anselmo has a mixed history with racism, once preaching about White supremacy in the 1990s but also criticizing racist fans during an MTV interview.
