Michelle Obama and Missy Elliott Team Up for New Single, ‘This Is for My Girls’

Didn’t catch Michelle Obama‘s South by Southwest keynote with Missy Elliott? Don’t worry, they have a new song to help you get your life this morning. 

Yes, the First Lady is back with a new single, "This is For My Girls," and it supports various ongoing campaigns that center around empowering young women. While Obama doesn’t offer her own vocals, the uplifiting track features the talents of seveal singers, including Elliott, Kelly Rowland, Janelle Monáe, Kelly Clarkson and Zendaya. The song’s positive message carries through its chorus, which includes the lyric: "This is for my girls, all around the world/ Stand up, put your head up, don’t take nothing from nobody."

You can purchase "This is For My Girls" through iTunes. All proceeds will go to the First Lady and Peace Corps’ Let Girls Learn initiative, which fights for young women’s right to education around the world.
