When Prince died on April 21, 2016, he left behind an unfinished memoir. Now fans will get a glimpse into the artist’s personal universe when it is released on October 29. Publisher Random House told The Associated Press yesterday (April 22) that “The Beautiful Ones” will bring together the manuscript with scrapbooks of personal photos and original handwritten lyrics for many of his hits. The book will be 288 pages with a foreword by Prince’s co-author Dan Piepenbring, who will share insight into Prince’s thoughts and artistic inspiration in the days leading up to his death.

Prince’s estate posted that it is “thrilled” about the project. Per Random House, the book will be “deeply personal” and chronicle “the real-time story of a kid absorbing the world around him and creating a persona, an artistic vision and a life, before the hits and the fame that would come to define him.”
