Lifetime Biopic on Michel’le to Premiere in October

Music mogul and rap star Dr. Dre faced significant criticism for how last year’s record-breaking N.W.A. biopic, "Straight Outta Compton," (which he co-produced) overlooked the controversial accusations of abuse leveled against him by Dee Barnes and Michel’le. The latter woman, who has children with both Dre and fellow Death Row Records co-founder Suge Knight, tells her side of the story in an upcoming Lifetime movie.

"Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Me" will premiere on a to-be-determined date in October. Rhyon Nicole Brown ("Lincoln Heights") portrays Michel’le, Curtis Hamilton ("Castle") plays Dr. Dre and R. Marcos Taylor ("Luke Cage") reprises his "Straight Outta Compton" role as Knight.

Michel’le, like Barnes, issued a response to Dre’s apologies to women he hurt following a Gawker article that detailed the abuse he reportedly inflicted on Barnes. But unlike Barnes, the singer and reality TV star doubted her former fiancé’s sincerity. Michel’le married Knight after her time with Dre and says that he also abused her.
