Jon Stewart Announces “Restoring Sanity” Rally

As liberal media tries to counter Glenn Beck's yelling, will race finally take center stage?

Get ready. Last night on The Daily Show Jon Stewart announced that he’s taking Glenn Beck toe-to-toe with a "Restoring Sanity" rally, happening on the same day. The gathering’s scheduled to take place on October 30 and is a direct call out of Beck, whose "Restoring Honor" rally made headlines back in August when it was held in Washington on the 47th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr’s "I Have a Dream" speech.

And who’s invited? According to the website for Restoring Sanity:

We’re looking for the people who think shouting is annoying, counterproductive, and terrible for your throat; who feel that the loudest voices shouldn’t be the only ones that get heard; and who believe that the only time it’s appropriate to draw a Hitler mustache on someone is when that person is actually Hitler. Or Charlie Chaplin in certain roles.

If we had to sum up the political view of our participants in a single sentence… we couldn’t. That’s sort of the point.

All this is not to be confused with Stephen Colbert’s efforts to keep fear alive, happening on the same day, at the same place. Liberal conspiracy theorists, eat your hearts out.
