Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill and Others Set to Headline Afropunk 2015

“Revival” appears to be the theme of this year’s Afropunk Festival, with legacy artists of the past two decades such as Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lenny Kravitz and Kelis joining the ascendant Danny Brown as headliners.

Set to take place on August 22 to 23 at Brooklyn’s Commodore Berry Park, the festival will also include sets from Thundercat, Suicidal Tendencies, Curtis Harding, and other buzzworthy and underground artists on the nearly-25-strong lineup.

Afropunk, which just held a groundbreaking international date in Paris last month, is expanding this year into a ticketed event. (Fans will have the chance to volunteer in exchange for a ticket.) The kickoff party, the Afropunk Fancy Dress Ball, will also take place in Commodore Berry Park.

The Afropunk Festival is also set to expand to Atlanta’s Central Park on October 3 to 5, with a lineup to be announced.
