Florida Gun Shop Auctioning George Zimmerman Confederate Painting

By Sameer Rao Aug 19, 2015

In a move that probably surprises nobody, a Florida gun store owner is auctioning off a painting by Trayvon Martin’s killer George Zimmerman… of a Confederate Flag.

That’s right, the gun store owner, probably understanding the financial viability of a George Zimmerman painting, announced a contest whereby those who buy a print of the painting (which you can see in the lower-left hand inset, regrettably, above) at about $50 a pop can win Zimmerman’s original painting.

Half of the proceeds will go to Zimmerman, who described the painting’s caption (which says "THE 2ND PROTECTS OUR 1ST") as a "double entendre." The other half will support the gun store’s owner, Andy Hallinan, who is facing a federal lawsuit from the Council on American-Islamic Relations after declaring his store a "Muslim-free zone" in the aftermath of the shootings in Chattanooga.

Woof.
