The Color of Money

By Malena Amusa Jan 29, 2007

Apparently taller, lighter skinned American immigrants earn up to 15 percent more income than shorter, darker immigrants, a professor of law and economics at Vanderbilt University in Tennessee found after analyzing data from more than 2000 male and female legal immigrants. The disparity was apparent among workers from the same ethnic, racial and country background. While I’d like to draw some overarching analysis of the pangs of colorism that poison our culture thanks to a vicious color-caste system wrought on by the enslavement and colonization of the colored world by Europeans, it kind of goes without saying. So in light of this study, no pun intended, I’ll let you provide your own explanation in the comment section.
