Chris Rock Will Host the Next Oscars

By Kenrya Rankin Oct 22, 2015

It seems the folks over at the Academy of Motion PIcture Arts and Sciences aren’t really fans of suspense. After just a day of "will he or won’t he" speculation, show producers Reginald Hudlin ("House Party," "Everybody Hates Chris") and David Hill (a television veteran whose credits primarily include live sporting events) announced that Chris Rock will indeed host the 2016 Academy Awards in February.

The comedian and actor then took to Twitter to cosign the announcement.

Rock first—and last—hosted the show in 2005. Watch his super-topical opening monologue from that year and let us know in the comments if it still holds up.
